The Session has approved a plan for outdoor worship beginning Sunday, June 28, 2020,at 10 am! The Board of Trustees of the Presbytery of Newton is reviewing the plan, so there maybe additional precautions required. We will keep you posted via the OGPC website (

Much time and energy is going into accomplishing creating a new worship experience that includes keeping everyone safe. We have a donation from the Freys of a hay cart that will be transformed into a worship stage, complete with a podium. And our technological wizzes are working on bringing sound, most likely through your car radio. It will be in the lot by the ball field. Facebook Live will be available for persons who feel safer at home.

Yes, there are risks, but here’s what is planned to follow NJ State and Presbytery guidelines and it’s for you to decide for yourself and family if you want to participate outdoors:

  • Ushers will direct cars to spots 6’ apart (if not 6’ please keep your windows closed).
  • Ushers will direct you to distanced spots if you want to sit on your chairs on the grass.
  • Masks must be worn outside. Attendance will be taken for tracing (if needed).
  • Your bulletin will be electronic only. It comes out in e-mail on Thursdays.
  • Prayers/joys/announcements must get to pastor ahead of time for her to announce.
  • Sorry there will be no responsive prayers or singing vocalized by congregants.
  • Passing the peace by gesture only.
  • Communion-bring your own elements.
  • Offering: use on-line giving, mail in envelopes, or leave offering in plates.
  • Fellowship by on-line platform only. Please keep distance of 6’ from each other.
  • Doors will be propped open for bathroom use if emergent. Disinfecting will be done after each use.
  • You are encouraged to hum, clap, and “move” to the music that will be provided by our wonderful music team (without the choir).

I hope you will take this as an opportunity to have a more reflective worship time, hear the word of God preached, and connect with each other by smiles and waves!

Old Greenwich's Mission

The congregation of OGPC fully embraces its responsibility to bring the word of God into the community and world. We look to be inspired and unified in our shared mission:

“To Celebrate the Love of God in All We Say and Do”

And so, with the leadership of a new pastor and secure in God’s love and guidance, OGPC approaches the unknown future with commitment that God’s will be done and that as God’s people, we can witness the power and glory of God through our own actions. In doing so, we will celebrate the love of God in all we say and do.
